For a long time, I have wanted this book by Jeff Bridges, and for three reasons, I like him as an actor, I of course love analog photography and I’m a bit of a sucker for panoramas, especially when they are made on film.
But I found the book a bit expensive to my taste, and not being able to flip through the book to see if I like it, kept me waiting for the right price.
And waiting for quite a while, I finally found it on Alibris for about $68 (what I normally see is are prices around $250 and above, and that’s a bit more than my wallet can handle).
Was it worth the wait I hear you ask? It sure was, the book is amazing, and all of my three reasons for wanting this book are fully satisfied.
I like to see the behind the scenes photos of the films, where some are among my favorite. And then it’s just amazing to see how well he handles that Widelux camera.
The only bummer about this book, is that some photos are printed across the center of the book. That’s of course nice when you want to show some bigger photos, but unfortunately the center of the book is not “flat” in lack of a better word. I see this in a lot of photography books, and I never really understood why you would do that, when – in my opinion – it ruins the photo.
Do I recommend this book? Yup I do. I just order Pictures volume 2, and looking forward to flipping through that one.
